Pera Basketball - Men

 

Pera Basketball team is strengthened by 24  young, energetic players.. The team is guided by Mr. Ranura Nanayakkara, a high level coach in Sri Lanka.. He was the former president of the Basketball Referees’ Association. The official support to the team is given by the Teacher in charge Mrs. N.K. Kularathne.

 

The Men’s team is lead by Krishan jayawardena & Palitha Ekanayake. They both have participated in 44th Senior National Championship representing Sri Lanka Universities Team. The  team is armed with experienced players such as Dulanja Subodhana, Chaminda Dissanayake, Chathuranga Jayarathne, Lakmal Wijesinghe, Anuradha Kalahe & Sajith Samarasena.

 

Pera Basketball - Women

 

The women’s team is Lead by Lakshika Gamage & Sachinthala Fernando. Some of the other players are  Himali Balasooriya who had the honour of representing Sri Lanka at the 25th World University Games in Serbia this year , Thayaga Rupasinghe, Prathiba Jayaweera & Chathurika Munasinghe .The women’s team had won the 2011 Inter university Championship by winning the finals against the UOC.

Both teams had participated for the Kandy District 5 a side tournament organized by the Kandy District Basketball Association. Another 5 a side tournament organized by UOP  is to be played by both teams on 10th of June. The Youth games are also to be played in the Month of June by both teams.
