Inaugural Kandy District Novices Badminton Championship organized by Kandy District Badminton Association was held on 12th and 13th of May at st. Anthony’s college gymnasium, Katugastota.

In women’s singles open category, Sathya Wijewardhana and Pujathri Piumali of University of Peradeniya made it to the finals by beating Roshini Kavindya Tennakoon of Mahamaya Girls’ College and Dilini Siriwardhana of University of Peradeniya respectively. Sathya Wijewardhana the former captain of theUniversity girls’ team walked away with the championship of the open women’s singles.
