Final Count Down of the " Season 2012 "

Inter University baseball tournament 2012 is currently underway at the Moratuwa University Grounds with the participation of 8 university teams. Tournament started on the 2nd of June and will end on the 3rd. 

Defending champions Colombo and Last year's runners-up PERA teams are the favorites this year, while Moratuwa and J'pura are eagerly poised to make a change and grab the inter uni glory. University of Kelaniya, University of Ruhuna, University of Sabaragamuwa, University of and University of Wayamba are the other competitors determined to win the title.

 

PERA team captain Lasantha Sanjeewa Manna Uthum, national baseball player representing PERA, is confident that his team will reach the pinnacle of baseball this year.

 

At the end of the first day, first round matches marked their completion. Results are as follows.

 

MORA - SABARAGAMUWA              24-5

PERA - RUHUNA                           10-0

COLOMBO - KELANIYA                  16-4

J'PURA - WAYAMBA                      15-3

Second and the final day matches will feature the two semi-finals and the final. In the Semis, PERA will battle MORA and COLOMBO will have to defeat the challenge from J'PURA to reach finals. 

Classy performances are expected on the second day as four most talented baseball teams in the university sports arena are encountering for the ultimate glory.
